Robert Walvis - Non-Executive ChairmanRobert, aged 61, has spent more than 30 years in a variety of senior roles within Shell Transport and Trading plc latterly as Chairman of the Corporate Centre & Director, Shell International, from 1997-2001. Robert is currently a non-executive director of British Energy Group plc, Johnson Matthey plc, Associated British Ports plc (now owned by Singapore Investment Authority) and Balfour Beatty plc, and is the non-executive chairman of the Supervisory Board of Allianz Nederland Groep NV.
Chief Executive Officer - Mark SilverMark has extensive Board experience in both CEO and Finance Director roles. From 1987-1995 he was Deputy Group Finance Director of the £3 billion European media buying/advertising group, Aegis Group plc. In 1995 he joined Pearson Professional Ltd as Group Finance Director of Pearson plc’s £200 million professional and electronic publishing division where he negotiated and integrated a number of acquisitions in the US and the UK. From 1998-2000 he was Group Finance Director of BSI and worked closely with Keith Tozzi in growing the business by acquisition to become a global player in the testing, inspection and management systems sectors. Mark joined Articon Integralis AG, (Europe’s largest IT security integrator), as Finance Director and became CEO in 2002. Prior to joining Inspicio’s Board in 2005, he led the turnaround of Articon reducing the cost base and refocusing on service delivery options.
Group Finance Director - Richard McBrideRichard joined Inspicio in 2006 as Group Finance Director. Prior to that, Richard spent five years as Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary at Michael Page International, the FTSE 250 recruitment and staffing company following its IPO in 2000. During that time the Company grew to a turnover of £650m and a market capitalization of £1.3 billion. He has also held various management positions in SmithKline Beecham plc where he was part of the corporate team for the merger with Glaxo Wellcome plc. Richard trained at PriceWaterhouse and has worked as Finance Director in fast growing private companies within the advertising and publishing sectors.
Neil Hopkins - CEO InspectorateNeil started his career in the inspection business as a Chemist Surveyor in 1973 with Intertek (Caleb Brett, UK) and, after studying Chemical Engineering at University of Bradford, he joined Intertek (Caleb Brett, USA) in 1980. For the next eight years he held a number of management positions in the USA and South America. In 1988, Neil joined Inspectorate as Vice President of the US Gulf Coast region and later became Global Director for Oil and Petrochemicals. In 1993, Neil was appointed President of Inspectorate Americas. Neil now holds the position of CEO of the Inspectorate Group.
Alex Sleeth - CEO Inspicio EnvironmentAlex joined Inspicio on 1 October 2008 having spent the previous 20 years in various roles within National Britannia rising to the position of MD in the Pest Prevention Division before the business was sold in 1997. He then moved to a role with the new owners looking at acquisitions and business growth strategies before returning to National Britannia a year later as the Chief Executive Officer. Three years ago Alex led a management buyout of National Britannia and delivered an aggressive growth strategy both organically and through a strategic acquisition programme which ultimately led to a successful exit with Connaught plc buying the business in 2007. After a successful integration of the business now renamed Connaught Compliance, Alex left the business in early 2008. He joins Inspicio as CEO of the Environment Division and will also sit on the main Inspicio Board.
Steven Woollands - CEO Eclipse ScientificSteven joined Inspicio in January 2009 following more than 25 years experience in the food manufacturing industry and has taken up the role of CEO of Inspicio's Food Testing business, Eclipse Scientific. Prior to joining Inspicio, Steven was head of the global ingredient-sourcing and blending company, Spicemanns, which he sold in 2008. He was also involved in Lion Foods, a sauce manufacturing and global ingredient-sourcing business which he sold in 2006. Other roles include Senior VP for Europe for Griffith Laboratories and Divisional MD for Bakery at Hazlewood Foods plc. Steven graduated from University College Cardiff with a degree in Economics and management.
Alan Giddins - Non-Executive DirectorAlan Giddins joined 3i in 2005. Prior to joining 3i he worked for 12 years in investment banking with Hambros Bank and Société Générale, latterly as European Head of the Transport and Support Services sector team within Mergers & Acquisitions, advising both quoted corporates as well as private equity houses. He holds a degree in Economics from Durham University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG.
Jo Wetz - Non-Executive DirectorJo is a Director in the 3i Buyout Team and is based in London. Recent deals include the €335m public to private of Inspicio plc, the acquisition of Inspecta Oy (the Nordic testing and inspection business) and the €865m public to private of Enterprise plc. Jo holds a degree in Economics from UCL and is a Chartered Accountant.
